Placement of Crosshairs Too Low in BO7

Placement of Crosshairs Too Low in BO7 (The Floor Stare).

If your crosshairs are pointed at floor level or the waistline, you will be asking your hand to make an extremely difficult correction last minute while you are already being damaged.

How cod bo7 bot lobby looks

While you sprint your crosshair is drifting towards the floor.

It is only after you see the enemy that you can accurately snap on the target.

Why it fails gunfights

mmoset High-level players don't have to be faster than you. They just need to be ready sooner. A gunfight can be turned into a crisis if the crosshairs are not placed correctly: Panic, Big Correction and Overflick.

If you want to get the best placement, then: micro-adjustment combined with ADS plus shoot.

You'll notice it immediately: enemies feel like walking into your shots when your crosshairs are up.

The Fix: Use your crosshairs as your eyes

We don't aim at where we last saw the threat. Instead, we look to where the next one is.

The Height Regulation:

Indoors/tight Angles Keep your crosshair a bit higher (headlevel). Engagements in this area happen fast.

Outdoors / mid-range: Aim towards the upper breast. This is a more forgiving approach if the target slides or crouchs.

When moving, the crosshair on your gun should always be positioned at the edge or corner of the cover.

From our reviews we learned that changing the sensitivity settings is not as effective as fixing crosshair positioning.

Being predictable is a good way to be a target.

If you do the same thing in every fight - or worse, stay still - then you will be a predictable target. Predictability makes you a target for your adversary.

How it looks

Use the exact sprint-in and same peak angle over and over again.

Standing still, while ADSing.

Always using the exact same panic move.

Why it is that gunfights end in failure

Predictable movement allows for opponents to:

1. Ascertain your height and timing.

2. The tracker will follow you with ease without the need to change their aim.

3. If you cooperate with their crosshair, then you will win the fight even though their aim may be worse than yours.

The Fix - The Two Options Rule

We don't have to be random. That would lead to poor aiming. Unreadable is all we need.

A Practical Guideline

Close Range : Strafe + Occasional Jump (do Not Jump Every Single Time).

Mid-tolong range: Make a few drops or use a quick peek.

Re-peeks. Do not look in the same exact direction at the height of the same angle two times.

If you realize you are only a 1-button player, (i.e., you always shoot a jump shot), then force yourself to follow the 2-Option Rules:

Fight: A: Jump.

Fight C: Slash only.

Repeat.

This simple change is enough to confuse the enemy without you having to think too much about your mechanics.

This is our routine when we need to make rapid improvements without slaving away all day. This routine works because is isolates the variables.

FAQ

Q1 Isn’t playing cover just a form of camping?

It isn't true. Camping is refusing the space. Playing Cover is a way to take space intelligently* while not giving free kills. Playing fast is possible, as long as we have a nearby object, wall, or doorframe on which to fall.

Q2 - Do I need to be insanely accurate for this?

No. In practice, the aim that is required to win with these fixes is reduced. When you have your crosshairs in the right position and are not fully exposed to your opponent, your accuracy is reduced and fights are more consistent.

Q3 - What's a big sign that you're rushing?

This is an indication of exposure. It was impossible to see all the angles from which you were being viewed.

Q4 I have a question about keeping your crosshair up. It feels odd.

It usually takes some sessions. Most players will need to practice for a couple days before they can stop using floor-aim to sprint.

Summary

It is easy to get pre-aim when you have a predictable movement and low crosshair placement. Even if you fix one thing, your fights will feel cleaner. But if you fix all three at once, your deaths will no longer seem unlucky.

Use the loop you use every time - Anchor, Scan, Slide. Always keep your crosshair in front of corners. You will see a significant improvement in your confidence as well as consistency.
