Materials below the yield stress of a carbomer gel cannot overcome the network's structural resistance and therefore cannot move through the gel, including downward under the influence of gravity. This means that particles denser than the surrounding gel medium, which would normally settle due to gravitational force, remain stationary in the carbomer gel as long as the gravitational force on each particle does not exceed the yield stress that the gel exerts to oppose movement.
