The decided to franchise tag Breece Hall this offseason, keeping him under contract for one
Josh Richardson Jersey more year instead of letting him hit the open market, where he'd surely have left for a new team. But the Jets and Hall aren't opposed to a long-term extension, and there has been some discu sion between the two sides at times in the last year. However, amid rumors of a $60 million contract offer to Hall, reports that the Jets and Hall both shut down those rumors, suggesting such a huge offer was never actually made. Jets and Breece Hall shut down $60M contract rumor "Looked into the report the Jets offered Breece Hall a four-year, $60 million extension," Hughes reports. "Sources on both ends of the negotiation insist that was never on the table." Such a ma sive contract offer to Hall would have been a surprising one. Not just in that the Jets offered it to Hall, but that Hall didn't immediately sign it. The most lucrative deal any running back has signed is Saquon Barkley's $41.2 million deal he signed with the . A $60 million deal for Hall would be nearly $20 million more than Barkley is making, though the APY of $15 million would be tied for third-most with Derrick Henry. MORE : Hall is a great player and is deserving of a big extension. But a $60 million, four-year deal is not a realistic offer. More likely, it will be a shorter-term deal if it's close to the $15 million per-year mark. He will be 25 soon, and the Jets should try to extend him long-term. A three-year deal, so Hall can hit the open market right before he turns 28, would make a lot of sense for both sides. And a deal likely won't be for $15 million per-year, either. This rumored $60 million four-year deal was a bit outlandish, and as Hughes notes, this wasn't an actually offered contract. Both the Jets and Hall have shut down the notion of this contract offer existing. The two sides will be in talks on an extension this offseason, but such a ma sive deal for Hall is not, and has not ever been on the table. More Jets news:
